Many times, you walk into display houses and think “Wow, this furniture is perfect for this house!” You may start to wonder: will my furniture fit? We can help you with this question. Just give us the dimensions of some of your furniture and roughly where you would like to have it, and we can draw it on the plan to make sure you will have enough room for it. This can be particularly important if you have a hutch for a dining room or possibly grandma’s antique china cabinet. Let us help you make sure it will fit before you buy a house and then realize that the antique hutch and dining room set won’t fit in the modern kitchen.
Bedrooms are another room that we are sometimes asked to verify furniture sizes in. You will need to know the size of your bed (standard, king or queen), nightstands, and any dressers or other pieces you want to place in the room. If you have a bed with a headboard, you will need to make sure you have a full focal wall in the bedroom to put it on. Something that you may want to specify is an electrical outlet at each night stand location. Electrical outlets are installed per code which allows for a cord 6’ long to reach to an outlet. If you want additional outlets to coordinate with your furniture, just let us know!
You may also want to consider accent lighting at certain pieces of furniture. Let’s take grandma’s hutch: we could install two recessed lights above to light up the furniture and the dishes. When you come in to tour the units, ask one of our housing specialists to walk with you. As you go through the homes, we can discuss the many possibilities. As always, if you have any questions, just drop us a line here.
