A West Virginia Modular Update!

We have some big news for our friends “south of the border”! We would like to announce that we are now officially licensed to sell modular houses in West Virginia. We are excited to be able to serve customers in a new area for us.

It came about this way. We had a couple come to us a few months ago from just below Cumberland, MD (in West Virginia) and ask us what we could do for them to help them get into a new home. At the time, the answer was that we couldn’t do anything for them. After seeing their interest in our homes, we decided to see what it would take. Here is a picture of the home.100_3735

The first thing we had to do was to get registered with West Virginia as a business. In order to do this, we needed to show good business standing in PA and solid financial standing. Once we got that done, we needed to become licensed construction contractors. We soon found out that contractors in West Virginia have to pass a series of tests to ensure that they understand what is required by the state.

The first test was on general business principles, insurance information, OSHA compliance, tax laws, human resources, etc. This helps ensure that companies doing business in WV are soundly managed. The second test was on the residential construction codes, both the IRC and the applicable WV laws. By demonstrating this knowledge, we were able to show our ability to install quality homes in a quality fashion. After passing both tests, we received our WV contractor’s license!1518_001

Our permissions in West Virginia only extend to modular homes at this time; unfortunately we are not able to sell and install HUD-code (single-wide and sectional) homes in WV. Also, there are some limits to our geographical service area. As always, please feel free to contact us here, and we would be more than happy to help you get the high-quality, beautiful home you deserve!
